Not Letting People Affect Your Energy
Are you a sensitive person? Many of us are the Empaths in this world, we are one of those people who easily pick up negative energy in a room. Being an empath is a fantastic characteristic for me as a Life Coach, I have a unique ability to empathize and see my clients for who they are and what they really want in life. However like other empaths. I have to remind myself regularly to protect the energy I absorb. As Empaths we can absorb emotions from almost anyone at any time: a family member, a friend, the checkout chick, a co-worker, or an even stranger. If someone is always in a bad mood, their mood can affect how we see and feel our day.
How do we use our empathic abilities while protecting our energy?
Here are three tips to stay in your own energy;
1. Believe you can
We can all stay in our own high vibration. Remember no one can affect or change your vibe unless you give them that power. Honor how powerful you are and remind yourself as much as possible the space you want to hold for yourself, protect it at all costs.
2. What you allow it will continue
When others bring up "negative" topics of conversation, such as gossiping, complaining. Do you engage or do you hold the space then try to shift the conversation? You can control the direction of all conversations. Believe it or not, we can love people for where they're at but still honor our own boundaries. We can't engage in low vibrational actions/habits and then wonder why our energy is being affected. When you continue to lead conversations in a positive direction people will respect the space.
3. Only surround yourself with high vibrational content
As much as I am a huge sucker for reality tv shows the emotional content of these television programs can affect psychological health. If the TV program generates a negative mood (anxiety, sadness, anger, or disgust), these experiences will affect how you interpret events in your own life, what types of memories you recall, and how much you will worry about events in your own life.
I tend to stay clear of these shows and only watch content that rises my vibration, such as Ted talks and inspiring YouTubers. On social media be aware of the content you are exposing your mind too, only follow those who inspire you and make you feel good.
4. Meditate and read inspiring books to stay in or shift into a better mindset
5. Remember how you want to show up in this world
Only you know how you want to be, how you want to feel, and who you want to be around in this life. Only you can choose each day how you are going to show up and serve. Always choose what aligns with your values and beliefs. Be proud of how far you've come and the journey you have been to get here in this space. Protect it with all costs as you worked hard to be here, as you are.

We are free to move through the world in a new, empowering way. A way that allows us to use this unique gift to our benefit—which ultimately will benefit the world.
We can use our new-found energy to accomplish the dreams and goals we set out for ourselves.
