How to stop measuring yourself by what you see on social media

It is so easy to fall into the comparison trap when social media surrounds us. We envy to be like someone else, have the experiences like someone else or have success like someone else.

But where does it leave us?

Comparing yourself to others is an act of lack of kindness to your authentic self. It is also a thief of joy and motivation.

Here are some truth bombs….

The real-life human that you are comparing yourself to is waking up every day just like you hoping they too are doing the right thing and trying to show up in the world as best as they can.

Wherever you are right now is where you need to be. Seven billion people can’t do everything in the same scheduled order. We are all different with our needs and goals, likes/dislikes. Who we are and who we want to become. Don’t beat yourself up to you're on your life path created for you.

So why do we compare ourselves to others?

Our brain has a natural tendency to make comparisons as a system of developing logic and reasoning. All the ways we compare ourselves to others are the same ways we find self-worth in our lives. We compare ourselves to others as its truly what we want in our lives.

Let's start peeling off the comparison layers

Ask yourself these questions;

Determine your triggers discover what (or who) these triggers may be. Check in with yourself. Is it spending time with certain people, social media or even going to the gym. What is making you feel worse about yourself?

What is your comparison trying to show you?

Where is it guiding you?

What are your dreams and goals? What do you want?

What can you do tomorrow, this week and this month, to start moving towards what you want?

By seeing underneath comparison layers, you can start to reveal your biggest ambitious.

And lastly, every once and a while have a social media detox it will refresh your mind, body and soul.
