Finding your thing and making it your career

Do you ever wish that you could be fulfilled in life knowing you're doing what you love to do each day? No 9-5 job you hate that you can't wait till it's time to go home. What if I said that is possible!! It’s about finding your thing, your life purpose. Have you ever done something that felt so normal for you to do, time ticks away as you are doing what you love to do? You forget about the rest of the world. This is your thing and you might not even know it.

During a time when I was on the journey of self-discovery, I came across old diaries that I wrote in when I was in my teens. At this stage of my life I had a messy room and was obsessed with boys, one in particular that I dated that cheated on me every second he got, he always made me heartbroken and filled me with insecurities. I didn’t pass most of my subjects at school. I was bullied and was overwhelmed and riddled with so much anxiety that I struggled to get out of bed each day. I had a lot of hard personal home issues I went through as well. So you could imagine what my notepad would be like an unhappy teenager, writing in a journal about how miserable her life was.

Instead of complaining about my life and expressing the pain and emotions, I was going through in my teenage mind, I wrote each night the positives that were going on in my life. And those negative things I thought about I wrote how they could become positives. At 13 years old I was providing self-help to myself. I wrote down short-term and long-term goals and my dreams and hopes. I wrote down positive sayings that touched my heart and even created my own bucket list. To me, this all came so naturally at a time I needed positivity I gave it to myself. Looking at it with adult eyes I am amazed at my own ability to make this journal and how uplifting the content is. I discovered while reflecting on this that positivity and goal setting is in my blood, It is who I am, this is my thing. Now in my adult life, I lose myself in self-help books and anything to do with personal development. This is my gift to this world. This has proved to me that I am born to be a life coach, and this is authentically who I am this is my thing.

My first ever journal submission age 13.

So what does this mean for you? Is there something you do on a regular basis that you lose the track of time doing as you are so passionate about it? Maybe you burnt your food while reading a book your so into or you missed an appointment because time slipped away from you when you were in the garden or you wasted time debating a particular topic with your friends. Try to think back and take note of when these times have occurred because this could unlock your true talent.

Career or hobby?

We spend so much time working why not spend that time doing something you love.

It's very easy to give in to resistance and say "it's not for me", " I couldn't possibly make money from it and make it my job". But I say look around at the weird and wonderful jobs people have. If you are passionate about something and you take it seriously others will too. It's a leap of faith but trust me in saying it's a leap you will never regret as it aligns with who you are authentic. Doing what you love to do will shine through even the hardest times. Imagine waking up every day doing whatever it is you love to do and being paid to do it.

I believe we are all authentically different and have our own thing to contribute to the world. I believe everyone should be working in a field they are passionate about as we spend 1/3 of our life will be spent at work. That's 90,000 hours over the course of a lifetime. Make sure you are using that time in a position that fulfils you. You deserve this, it's time for you to take the leap.

Finding your inner beauty, Find your calling & let it shine!!
